This is because, in this COVID-19 lockdown situation, most of the people are working in such jobs in which heavy computer uses are involved. For that reason, those people who work like this are getting into eye trouble. But, In this article, we will know how to take care of your eyes to get rid of these problems. Always Take Care Of Your Eyes


Try to keep your laptop at a distance to take care of your eyes.

You should always keep your laptop screen or computer screen at a scientifically proven distance. According to many scientific studies and not only that also many doctors the distance should be about 1 arm’s length. But, the main problem is that laptops can’t be kept to this distance. But, then you should decrease the laptop screen brightness for getting comfortable working. 


Wear A Computer glass to protect your eyes.

Always try to wear a computer glass on your eyes. It will almost remove the Ultraviolet rays of the computer or laptop screen. Even these glasses can save you from problems such as low vision, red eye, dry eye, etc. But, if you don’t want to wear any glasses on your eyes then the best practice is to turn on the night light of your computer or laptop all day. Turning on the night light of your computer or laptop screen will decrease the percentage of Ultraviolet rays coming from digital screens.

Eye exercises can help you in recovering the damages which are occurred when working on the computer also after taking all the precautions. Try to practice frequent hand washing.

This is a good practice to wash your hands frequently. This can not only help you in taking care of your eyes but also it can also protect you from getting ill from any type of viruses or bacterias especially from COVID-19. Washing your hands regularly will prevent the chances of being contacts to your eyes, sunglasses, lenses, etc.

Always hydrate your eyes very well.

Doctors always recommend drinking enough water throughout the day to stay hydrated. This is a very important part of taking care of your eyes. Drinking enough water will hydrate your eyes and also will recover all the damages which are occurred during working. According to The U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, a man should drink 3.7 liters or 15.5 cups of water every day and a woman should drink 2.7 liters or 11.7 cups of water every day.

Stop smoking immediately.

Smoking does not harm your eyes or visions directly. But smoking damages the blood vessels which supply the essential nutrients to the optic nerve. This can also develop cataracts and age-related macular degeneration.

Maintain a balanced diet for better results.

Maintain a diet that contains plenty of dark-green vegetables, fruits, etc. Eat those foods which are rich in omega-3 and fatty acids such as fish may reduce the risks of developing macular degeneration. 

Always maintain the 20-20-20 rule

To take care of your eyes while working on a computer you should always follow the 20-20-20 rule. 

  • After every 20 minutes look away from the screen of your computer and look at an object or a thing that is at least 20 feet away from your eyes.

  • Always try to blink 20 times back-to-back to keep your eyes hydrated.

  • After every 20 minutes, walk at least 20 steps away.

These three very important rules are called the 20-20-20 rule. This rule not only can refresh your mood and energy after working a long time but also it will help your eyes to stay healthy.

Sleep sufficient at night

You should have sufficient sleep at night. According to the doctors, you should sleep at least 8 hours at night. Try to maintain this. This precaution is the most important part of taking care of your eyes while working on a computer all day. Getting sufficient sleep at night will recover all the damages which are occurred during the work. This would very help you to take care of your eyes.

Take regular eye checkups.

Though, after taking and maintaining all the precautions you should take regular eye checkups and tests to catch and identify if there is any disease in advance.
